Scaling seaweed for CO2 removal and a healthy planet
Alyson Myers, President, Fearless Fund, USA
About the speaker:
Alyson Myers directs a team funded by the US DOE ARPA-E to produce macroalgae at energy or Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) scale. The multi-disciplinary team of marine engineers, oceanographers and remote sensing experts works to reduce excess atmospheric CO2 while addressing coastal challenges from macroalgae inundations. The process contributes to economic “blue” growth, jobs and ocean-based climate solutions. Myers is the president of Fearless Fund (www.FearlessFund.org), an R & D organization focused on enhancing ocean productivity. She has a MA from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. She is the founder of a beneficial aquaculture company, and she is an invited speaker to COP26, UNESCO/IOCARIBE, the Mexican Senate, DOE Summits, the Swedish Embassy and other convenings.
