About speaker:

Speaker is a long-time member of the Alaska seafood industry, starting as a salmon fisherman in Prince William Sound, and the marketing and public relations manager for the salmon aquaculture program in the Sound – the largest salmon hatchery program in the US. As a representative of a community development organization that owns crab harvesting and processing quota in the Bering Sea, co-chairs a program to restore red and blue king crab through hatchery rearing and juvenile releases. Co-chaired the Alaska Governor’s Mariculture Task Force which wrote the first strategic plan for mariculture development in the state; now chairs the AMA.

Presentation will include a short history of mariculture development in Alaska, the make-up, mission and goals of AMA, and the major short-term focuses of the organization as we recognize the issues facing mariculture success in the State.
