About the speaker:

Mr. Belle started his career as a commercial fisherman fishing offshore in the 70’s. After earning degrees in fisheries biology and agriculture economics he worked on and managed commercial aquaculture farms in Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, France, and Mexico. He has served on the design team for multiple land and ocean based facilities and since 1994 has been the principle in a consulting firm that does risk analysis and financial due diligence for the insurance and investment communities. Mr. Belle was the senior aquaculture policy advisor in the Maine Department of Marine Resources and currently is the Executive Director of the Maine Aquaculture Association. He also serves as the current President of the National Aquaculture Association.

The Maine Aquaculture Association (MAA) is the oldest state aquaculture association in the USA. MAA represents the interests of commercial finfish, shellfish and Sea vegetable growers. Our members generate over $100 million in farm gate sales and employ over 700 people annually. Currently there are 38 sea vegetable farms in Maine.
