Thea Thomas has been a commercial fisherman in Cordova Alaska for almost 40 years fishing salmon and halibut. With her partner Cale Herschleb, they are growing Sugar and Ribbon kelp in Windy Bay in eastern Prince William Sound, near Cordova. They have shipped kelp fresh to California and dried small amounts of locally. Cale has perfected smoking kelp in his smoke house built to smoke salmon. Thea has been designing a kelp sprinkle using ribbon kelp flakes and dried chipotle peppers from Mexico.
