Lifelong Seaweed Harvester and former Commercial Diver in Alaska. He advises the Alaska Sea Grant and Alaska Mariculture Alliance, and other groups about Native traditional perspectives and how they can be integrated into programs.

The Metlakatla Indian Community (MIC) is located on Annette Islands, it is the only Indian Reserve in the State of Alaska. The Reserve is 20 miles south of Ketchikan, Alaska and typically reached by seaplane, boat or ferry. The economy of Metlakatla is principally tied to fishing, seafood processing, services, tourism and forest products. The current population is 1460 according to the 2010 U.S. Census, and at that time there were 540 housing units in the community. At last count that number has since risen to just under 600 housing units.
