Within the Seagriculture USA 2024 program, we have prepared a series of site visits that will allow you to not only learn more about seaweed farming in Alaska but also see the unsurpassed beauty of the region!

All site visits will take place on 10 September 2024. Please take it into account during the planning of your stay in Alaska.

Overview of the visit to Hump Island:

  • Exclusive Coastal Drive, Cruise & Oyster Farm with Tasting
  • Duration: 3.25 hours
  • Departure Times on 10th September: 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm
  • Pick-up/Drop-off: Berth 2 (Near Visitor's Center Downtown)
  • Cost: $99 per person

More about the visit to Hump Island:

Leave the crowds behind and set out on an exclusive adventure with a maximum of 14 guests. Your journey begins with a narrated coastal drive where their local guides will bring the community and history of Ketchikan to life.

Upon arrival at their waterfront site, you will board a vessel for a short cruise to the Hump Island Oyster Farm. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available. The large back deck allows for great photo opportunities and our crew will be on the lookout for whales, seals and eagles that are common to the area (but not guaranteed). At the floating facility, our experienced guides will entertain you with the oyster farming process and offer a unique hands-on touch tank experience prior to heading upstairs to the beautiful Oyster Bar. You will be offered a tasting of delicious Hump Island Oysters along with other Alaskan products. Additional oysters, beer, wine & bubbly are also available for purchase.

Prior to returning to town you will have a chance to take pictures of the stunning scenery and visit their fun gift shop. This is a location and experience that is a treat for even the locals to visit!

A USD 10 per person processing fee will be charged for cancellations made after the booking is confirmed. No refund will be made for cancellations made less than 30 days prior to the tour.
